Introduction to UGC NET Exam
The UGC NET exam, short for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the role of Assistant Professor and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
Eligibility Criteria
To appear for the UGC NET exam, candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (for General category) from a recognized university. For candidates belonging to the reserved categories, the minimum percentage required is 50%.
Exam Pattern
The UGC NET exam is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 consists of 50 multiple-choice questions testing the candidate’s teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, and general awareness. Paper 2 consists of 100 multiple-choice questions based on the subject chosen by the candidate.
