Tick a lock means: Use of Slang Used to address other people, it is roughly equivalent to “shut up your mouth”. Self-reference gives the expression the meaning of keeping a secret or other information hidden. “My lips are sealed.” This phrase dates back to keyholes on metal plates under doorknobs.
