Paul Joseph Goebbels means in slang: German politician and propagandist, 1897-1945. He was born in Rheydt and studied at Heidelberg, Berlin and Bonn universities. In 1922, he joined the National Socialist **** Party and started to direct the students who joined it. Goebbels was introduced to Adolf Hitler in 1925. He was elected gauleiter (or party leader) for Berlin in 1926. In 1927, he also founded the National Socialist periodical Der Angriff The Attack and became its editor. In 1928, he was elected to Germany’s Reichstag. A year later, he was appointed propaganda leader for the **** party. He became an advocate of hatred against Jews and “non-Ayran”, groups like the Slavs. Hitler was helped by his work as a propagandist. Goebbels became Reichsminister of propaganda and national education in that same year. Goebbels was a communicator and educator who used every media to promote **** propaganda and stoke the German belief in their leader, a god, and their role as rulers of the universe. He was elected to the Hitler cabinet council in 1938. Hitler appointed him to be in charge of the total mobilization in late World War II. Goebbels killed himself on May 1, 1945 as Soviet troops stormed Berlin. His papers included the Goebbels Diary 1942-43. It was first published in English in 1948.
