What else does double secret probation mean?
- It is the practice of being placed on academic probation for another term in American colleges. If one’s GPA does not improve after that term, the student could be dismissed. Because the individual concerned does not wish people to learn that they may be dismissed, it is called secret. The term was first used in 1978 American college film Animal House. Dean Wormer places the Delta Tau Chi fraternity on “double secret probation” since they are already on probation. Since then, the term is used to refer to being on probation and still having fun.
